Mallika Sukumaran: I’m quite safe, please take care of others who need help

The actress picture had gone viral
In the past few days, a picture of actress

being rescued from her own flooding house at Thiruvananthapuram on a large vessel had gone viral on the net. Some people even found time amidst the floods to troll the actress, connecting the situation with an earlier statement of hers about the road to her house being too bad for Prithviraj’s Lamborgini.

Mallika Sukumaran has now clarified on the incident, saying that what happened was as misconstrued as the Lamborgini interview. “Since my grandchildren are visiting for Onam, I decided to get the large fish tank at our home emptied, since the kids treat it like a swimming pool. But there was an outlet from the pool to a nearby canal, from where water started coming in fast, and very soon, the house was flooded. It was sorted out immediately and the water has receded now,” she says. The picture, she says, was clicked by someone to mislead people. “In the meantime, a neighbour of mine was moved to the car in a large vessel, so I too decided to get into that to reach the car, which was a stone’s throw from where I was. Someone took a photo of me in the vessel and spread it. There were so many old and suffering women around who were frantically asking for help but nobody took their pictures,” she says.

The actress goes on to say that she is safe and thanks everyone who called her.
