Malayalam filmmaker and writer Biju Vattappara passes away at 54

Renowned Malayalam filmmaker and writer Biju Vattappara passed away at the age of 54 in Muvattupuzha, Kerala.

According to India Today, the esteemed director and screenwriter collapsed while visiting a lawyer in Muvattupuzha and was promptly rushed to a nearby hospital on May 13. Unfortunately, he died en route to the hospital. His remains are currently being kept at the Muvattupuzha Taluk Hospital.

Biju Vattappara leaves behind his father, Ravi (Devan), and daughter, Devanandana.

Biju Vattappara had a significant impact on the Malayalam entertainment industry through his work in movies, television serials, and documentaries. He rose to fame with his directorial ventures 'Raama Raavanan' and 'Swantham Bharya Zindabad'. Both films were well-received and contributed to his reputation as a talented filmmaker.

In addition to his directorial achievements, Biju Vattappara was a skilled screenwriter. He wrote the screenplays for several notable films, including the political action drama 'Lokanathan IAS' and 'Kalabham'.

His storytelling abilities extended beyond films to literature, where he authored several novels such as 'Chakkara Vava', 'Velutha Kathreena', and 'Shankupusham'. These novels were later adapted into successful television serials.

Biju Vattappara's contributions to literature were also recognized with the prestigious Kuttikrishnan Sahitya Award for his poetry collection, 'Idavazhiyum Thumbapoovum'. His works have left a lasting mark on Malayalam culture and continue to be appreciated by audiences and readers.

Biju Vattappara's last outing was with the Urvashi starrer comedy drama film 'My Dear Mummy' where he penned the script.
