'Aattam,' one of the most highly anticipated Malayalam films, has earned its place on the list of selections for the prestigious Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA). Featuring an exceptional cast including Zarin Shihab, Vinay Forrt, Kalabhavan Shajohn, and Nandan Unni, along with 9 debutants, ‘Aattam' promises powerful and unforgettable performances.
The upcoming film is helmed by debutant Anand Ekarshi and 'Aattam' ventures into the less explored and challenging chamber of drama genre, promising a slow-burning, suspenseful experience for viewers. Recently, the makers launched the film's first look poster.
The film deftly deals with a critical feminist issue but from the flip side. The summary of the film on IFFLA’s website reads, “On the face of it, the Arangu theater group looks like a safe space for a woman. Its sole actress, Anjali, appears to enjoy a forthright camaraderie with the rest of the twelve male members. Things are put to a test when one of the members gropes Anjali during a celebratory night out.”
On the technical front, the cinematography of 'Aattam' is handled by Anurudh Aneesh and Mahesh Bhuvanend is the editor. The film's sound design is done by Renganaath Ravee and the musical score is done by Basil C J to create an immersive atmosphere. Jikku M Joshi and Vipin Nair ensure impeccable sound mixing and Srik Varier handles the color grading.
Aattam' has already gained recognition by being selected among the prestigious list of 20 films recommended to international delegates for film festivals by the Film Bazaar Jury, a division of NFDC, India. Now, with its selection for IFFLA, film enthusiasts eagerly await its theatrical release in November 2023.
Meanwhile, the 21st edition of the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles is scheduled to take place from October 11th to 15th.
