Captain Raju breathed his last at the age of 68 at his residence in Kochi on Monday morning.
Captain Raju’s real name was Raju Daniel who had reportedly quit army for his love for cinema. Captain made his debut in
Malayalam cinema through the movie ‘Raktham’ that released in 1981.
He has worked in around 500 movies that include Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi.
The actor who started his career through negative roles made his characters memorable.
His notable performances include the Aringodar character from Hariharan's 'Oru Vadakkan Veeragadha', Pavanayi from
Sathyan Anthikad's 'Nadodikkattu', the assassin's role from Sibi Malayil's 'August 1'. His last Malayalam movie was
Mammootty starrer ‘Masterpiece’ in 2017. The actor at a point in his career made a decision not to do negative characters anymore which handed him more supporting and comedy roles in Malayalam cinema.
Captain also directed two movies title, 'Itha Oru Snehagadha' and 'Mr.Pavanayi 99.99'.
The actor's passion for cinema started when he was at the Mumbai Military camp which made him quit the army and pursue his dream of acting. He started his own theatre troupe and was an active theatre artist for a long time before director Joshiy drafted him in the movie 'Raktham'.
