Popular actress Malavika Mohanan opened up about her journey into the film industry. Recently, she revealed that the legendary Malayalam actor Mammootty was behind getting her debut role in ‘Pattam Pole’ opposite Dulquer Salmaan.

Talking to India Today, the 'Thangalaan' actress described a situation where Mammootty spotted her on the set of one of his films and recommended her for a role in a love story film being cast for his son.

Malavika quipped humorously: "It was a very 'shaadi ka rishta' kind of situation, where Mammootty saw me and thought I'd be good for his son, except it was for a movie."

Malavika also said that in those times, casting used to be pretty informal in the Malayalam film industry. She said that it resembled ‘Shaadi ka Rishta’ kind of deal. Malavika also revealed that the casting process has only developed in the Malayalam film industry in recent years.

Dulquer Salmaan and Malavika Mohanan’s romantic drama movie ‘Pattam Pole’ hit the big screens in 2013. The movie received mediocre reviews from the audiences. Directed by Alagappan N, the film also featured the actors Anoop Menon, Jayaprakash, Lalu Alex, and Archana Kavi in pivotal roles.

Later Malavika made her second acting outing in Mollywood with the Mammootty starrer action drama movie ‘The Great Father’ which was a commercial hit. Malavika Mohanan’s last outing in Mollywood is the drama movie ‘Christy’ starring Mathew Thomas in the lead.

Up next, Malavika Mohanan is soon to appear in the Telugu film 'The Raja Saab', directed by Maruthi and featuring Prabhas, and is set to release on April 10, 2025.
