Makers of ‘Neelavelicham’ pay tributes to Vaikom Muhammad Basheer on his 28th death anniversary

Makers of the upcoming Malayalam film ‘Neelavelicham’ has paid homage to prolific writer Vaikom Muhammad Basheer as July 5 marks his death anniversary. It has been 28 years since Keralite’s beloved writer breathed his last. Filmmaker Aashiq Abu, who is currently shooting for ‘Neelavelicham’, an upcoming film based on Basheer’s eponymous short story has paid tributes to the late writer.

Aashiq Abu shared a video, which has snippets of the real visuals of Basheer and his works, and paid tributes to the prolific writer.

The upcoming film ‘Neelavelicham’, is touted to be a horror thriller and has Tovino Thomas, Rima Kallingal, Roshan Mathew, and Shine Tom Chacko in lead roles. The final leg of the shoot for ‘Neelavelicham’ is progressing in Kochi. Recently veteran filmmaker Kamal paid a visit o n the sets of ‘Neelavelicham’.

Meanwhile, Vaikom Muhammad Basheer’s short story ‘Neelavelicham’ was adapted on screen in 1964. Directed by A Vincent, the film was titled ‘Bhargavi Nilayam’ and it featured Madhu, Vijaya Nirmala, and Prem Nazir in the lead roles. ‘Bhargavi Nilayam’ is regarded as the first horror film made in Malayalam, and as Aashiq Abu is making a film based on the same short story all eyes are on the film.
