With the pandemic dealing a huge blow to the film industry and affecting the livelihoods of thousands of workers in the field, the Malayalam Cine Technicians’ Association initiated a Help Indian Cinema campaign. Following the effort, a five hour-video has been prepared and will be submitted to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, with over 3,000 video clips from directors, actors, film editors, music composers and more, making the request to ‘please, help Indian cinema’.
“We got thousands of clips over the past three months and we have put it together into a five hour-video, which must be a record in itself. We are seeking financial assistance from the government to help the industry and its workers — who have been rendered jobless — tide over these difficult times,” said MACTA chairman and filmmaker
Jayaraj, adding that the video message came in from several industries across the country. “We are hopeful of a positive response from the government.”
