In a note shared on social media, the director Arun Bose said, “It’s a beautiful time for Malayalam cinema. Since the films that got released in February is still running successfully filling the theatres, since the new releases had already acquired a good number of theatres, since we strongly believe that Marivillin Gopurangal is a celebration and it needs a good number of theatres to reach its audience, we have decided to wait for a few more days.”

The director further added, “Sometimes a wait is sweet too… considering the success of this industry that is providing bread and butter to a large number of people. Malayalam cinema is at it’s peak. Congratulations to all the winners and warm wishes to all the new releases…”

‘Marivillin Gopurangal’ was postponed a few times earlier, due to various reasons. However, the recent postponement might be to avoid a clash with some of the big ticket releases including Pranav Mohanlal-Dhyan Sreenivasan’s ‘Varshangalkku Shesham’, Fahadh Faasil’s ‘Aavesham’, and Unni Mukundan’s ‘Jai Ganesh’ among others.
