Mathaai (Jayaram), better known as Maarconi Mathaai, is an ex-serviceman who works as the security guard at a local bank. He gets his name from his love for songs. In a trope that Sathyan Anthikkad gave spark to, everybody loves Mathaai. So it's everybody's business to get Mathaai married. That's is when Anna joins the bank as a cook and cleaning staff. Are Anna and Mathai fall in love with each other?

Maarconi Mathaai is a romantic musical laced with fantasy. The frames are all too colourful and extravagant. It is a "grammar book" in love in all it's cloying glory. There's a Jayaram who is smiling always. There's his band of wingmen who want to see him fall in love. And there's a leading lady who's clumsy and giggles always. Marconi manages to bring FM to his tiny island, and hears Vijay Sethupathi on the radio. He is RJing a program about love for the promotion of his new movie. Vijay Sethupathi makes Mathaai realize that love isn't that far from him.

But a stranger walks in to the bank at the interval. Who is this stranger who meets Anna? What is their relationship? Will Mathaai be able to profess his love? Will his fairytale have a 'happily ever after'?
