'Lokah' OTT: Kalyani Priyadarshan’s film nears end of theatrical run; Streaming details revealed

After an extraordinary box office journey, ': Chapter 1 – Chandra' starring Kalyani Priyadarshan is finally approaching the end of its theatrical run.

As reported by the Sacnilk website, on its 48th day, the fantasy superhero film managed to collect Rs 9 lakhs from Kerala. Reportedly, 'Lokah' has earned Rs 302.11 crore worldwide, with an India net of Rs 155.84 crore and an impressive Rs 119.6 crore from overseas markets.

An all-time blockbuster

Written and directed by Dominic Arun, 'Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra' marks the beginning of a five-part fantasy cinematic universe from Malayalam cinema which is an ambitious project blending mythology, science fiction, and superhero elements. The Malayalam version alone has grossed Rs 121.89 crore, reportedly. The star-studded cast includes Kalyani Priyadarshan, Naslen K. Gafoor, Vijayaraghavan, Arun Kurian, and Sandy Master. Dulquer Salmaan and Tovino Thomas played the roles of Odiyan and Chathan respectively.

OTT release confirmed

While the film’s theatrical run winds down, fans can now rejoice as the makers have confirmed its OTT debut. The OTT platform officially announced on Instagram, “The beginning of a new universe. Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra — coming soon on JioHotstar.” Although reports suggest that the film might release on the platform on October 20, no official date has been confirmed yet.

Meanwhile, the movie's team officially announced that the Kalyani Priyadarshan starrer crossed Rs 300 crores worldwide. Sharing a special poster for the film, Dulquer Salmaan Tweeted, "Only gratitude'.

Meanwhile, the next part in 'Lokah' universe will revolve around Tovino Thomas' Chathan character.
