Link-ups create a lot of confusions: Unni Mukundan
He is considered one of the most desirable men in M-Town.
Though he has enough of romantic and action roles to his credit, it looks like Unni Mukundan is all set to prove he has more shades to him as an actor. In his upcoming Telugu debut movie
A visibly ecstatic
So, is he enjoying being the villain, instead of everyone's blue-eyed-boy? 'Acting as a villain is quite a different experience but it's fun. I am happy that as an actor I get to do various genres of films and characters. We have just completed one schedule and the rest will be shot in June,' he says.
It looks like Unni is also trying to do rough-and-tough roles in Mollywood. The actor plays a local wrestler in his next Malayalam movie Saajan's Oru Murai Vanthu Paarthaya and guess what, the muscle man was not quite keen to take up the project when it first came his way! 'Yes, I was hesitant at first but being an action aficionado, I finally decided to take it up. It was fun shooting for the film, especially my wrestling portions. Once I got covered by mud after falling on the ground and just couldn't get out. I guess the kid in me woke up and I kept rolling in the mud!'
His character in the movie, Prakashan, is an electrical engineer in a fictional village named Mallapuram, Unni says. 'He stays with his mother and although he is a wrestler, he is very quiet and loved by all. It's a naadan character, something that I have never done before.'
Just as it often happens with him, the actor again got embroiled in a link-up rumour with his co-star Sanusha, while shooting for the movie. But Unni didn't let the rumour get out of hand and issued a clarification. 'I clarified because such unnecessary link-ups create a lot of unwanted confusions, which I don't like. Moreover, such rumours affect the girl involved more than the guy. I don't care about my bachelor status but somehow, I don't feel it's right to not clear the air on things which aren't true in the first place,' he says.
He has also completed shooting for the film Avarude Raavukal, directed by Shanil Muhammad. The movie was recently in the news as its producer Ajay Krishnan allegedly committed suicide. Unni says that he was shocked to hear the news. 'I was away from Kerala when he passed away. I heard about his death through the news. Though it is alleged that he committed suicide due to financial issues, he had no dues left as far as the film's production is concerned. The shoot had been completed two weeks before his death and the post production work was going on,' signs off the actor.

Unni
says, 'Janata Garage is a really interesting film with NTR in the lead. I play the villain and also son to superstar Mohanlal. It's a dream-come-true and I also wish to do a commercial movie with him in Malayalam as well. Working with NTR Jr. was also memorable. I have high expectations about the film.'It looks like Unni is also trying to do rough-and-tough roles in Mollywood.
