But the father and son did not get along well.” The movie is based on the real-life story of Moideen and his lady love Kanjanamala. “Moideen and Kanjanamala fell in love at an early age. The couple, whose fathers were influential persons of the village and great friends, were against their relationship owing to their different religious backgrounds.” Set in the backdrop of 1960s, the movie captures the hardships the couple had to face to realise their dreams and get married.
Vimal had come up with a documentary J
alam Kondu Murivettal and had bagged awards for the work. “I did thorough research for five years to develop it into a full-length film. The real life Kanjanamala was keen to have Prithviraj play Moideen, since she felt the actor resembled Moideen the most.”
