One of
Kunchacko Boban's best films in the recent past was
Kochauvva Paulo Ayyappa Coelho
, a film which told the story of do-gooder Kochauvva.
The film, says Kunchacko, is not based on a real life story but the protagonist is based on a real person. “The real Kochauvva is the father of an assistant director who used to work with Sidhartha Siva. He is an elderly person but would do anything for the villagers. One day, when his son came home, he found a crowd of migrant labourers in and around his house. When he enquired, the father told him that the workers were cheated by an agent, and on reaching Kerala, they found that they had no job or a place to stay. Kochauvva just took them all to his home!”
In another instance, Kochauvva brought in a beggar, and cleaned him up and fed him, much to the distress of his family, he reveals.
The film, directed by
Sidharth Siva, was appreciated for its fresh theme and feel good factor.
