Kunchacko Boban, Biju Menon court legal trouble
Looks like controversies are having a ball in Mollywood. Close on the heels of the news of a ban being slapped on actor Prithviraj (and later being revoked), the hottest talk in the industry is actors Kunchacko Boban and Biju Menon having a case filed against them for allegedly portraying the church in bad light in their latest outing as priests.
Boban Samuel, director of the film, tells us, An advocate based in Kottayam has filed a case against the films lead actors Kunchacko Boban and Biju Menon, writer Y V Rajesh, producers Arun Ghosh and Bijoy Chandran, and me.

According to him, the film shows the church in a bad light. However, it is far from true. Im not sure if hes watched the film; for, anyone who has watched it will acknowledge that it is an entertainer to the core, rather than try hard and find fault with the portrayal of religion in it.
On his part, actor Kunchacko Boban says, I havent got any intimation of the case yet. In fact, I got to know about it from the media. And I still dont have a clue about the scene or dialogue that the person who filed the case holds against us. The film is a work of fiction and has in no way made any attempt knowingly or unknowingly to portray any religion in bad light. Boban Samuel and I are Christians and neither I nor the director has felt there is any scene in the film that hurt our religious sentiments. We seriously dont understand the hullabaloo over a film that is a pucca entertainer; which is doing really well at the BO.
The film, the actor asserts, does not make any statements on religion. Movies that questioned religion, including The Passion of the Christ and The Da Vinci Code, have run to packed houses here, with no one finding fault with it. However, in the case of our film, I dont see any reason as why it would hurt anyones religious sentiments. The last thing any film buff would want to associate with a clean entertainer as this is sensationalism. Its just a feel-good film; not one that shares profound thoughts on religion, says Kunchacko, from the location of 3 Dots which sees him teaming up with Biju Menon again in Mala.
