Krishna Sankar to play lead in Kudukku 2025, a film set in a post-pandemic future

Krishna Sankar is set to star in Bilahari Raj’s upcoming film,

Kudukku 2025

, a “multi-genre film based in the future”. Speaking about the premise of the movie, the writer-director explains, “As the title suggests, it is based in 2025. It is set in the future for the requirements of the story, which deals with the issue of our privacy. I wrote the script during the lockdown, as a story that is narrated after the Covid-19 has hit us, so we are looking at a post-pandemic world. It is technology-based, but isn’t a sci-fi film alone; in fact, it is a story that can be easily understood and appreciated by audiences. The film starts as an easy entertainer and develops into a mystery, action thriller.”

Apart from Krishna Sankar, the film features Shine Tom Chacko, Durga Krishna Krishna, and also repeats the pairing of Swasika and Rammohan from Bilahari’s hugely viral short film, Thudarum, which was released on social media earlier this month. “We are set to start shoot soon, keeping in mind Covid-19 protocols. I am intent on good production quality, so I have not compromised on the technical crew. The film is being made for theatre release,” says Bilahari, whose earlier film was the comedy thriller Allu Ramendran. The film will be shot in Thrissur and while it is a post-Covid story, Bilahari points out that it will have the expansive canvas of any other film.

Kudukku 2025 has five songs, composed by Mujeeb Majeed and Sruthi Lakshmi. The cinematography is by Abhimanyu, a student gold-medalist who was S Kumar’s associate. State Award winner Kiran Das is the editor; fights are by Supreme Sundar.
