‘Kochaal’: Shine Tom Chacko as ‘Pinker Babu’; Makers unveil an intriguing second teaser for the film

There are only a handful of Mohanlal’s films that get overlooked when cineastes contemplate the best movies of the legendary actor. Even though most of the Mohanlal starrer films have performed well at the box office and have made a special place in the audience’s hearts, let's take a look at some of the underrated films of the ‘Complete actor’ on the occasion of his 62nd birthday.

Mohanlal starrer ‘Aham’ is certainly one of the films that can be termed as underrated ones from the actor’s filmography. The film was directed by Rajeevnath and Mohanlal played a character named Sidharthan who has a very different outlook on life and wants to achieve perfection in anything that he does. The film also had the actors Urvasi, Ramya Krishna, Vaishnavi, and Suresh Gopi in pivotal roles.

The renowned director Sathyan Anthikad who is mostly known by the term ‘Family Man’, as most of his films come under the genre of Family drama, opted for a thriller drama with 1994 Mohanlal starrer film ‘Pingami’. Although the film didn’t get due recognition during that time, Sathyan Anthikad said in one of his interviews with an online media that ‘Pingami’ is something of a unique attempt for him and stands high on his favorite movie list. The film also had the ace actors Thilakan, Jagathy Sreekumar, Innocent, and Sukumaran in pivotal roles.

The Romantic horror movie ‘Devadoothan’ is considered one of the cult classics in Malayalam cinema. This Mohanlal starrer directed by Siby Malayil had a different approach to storytelling and setting that sadly didn’t get much appreciation from the audience during the time when it was released in the year 2000. Ace actor Jaya Prada played the female lead in this Mohanlal starrer.

‘Amrutham Gamaya’ is one of the classical works of the ace director Hariharan which showcased a different style of acting from Mohanlal as the character named PK Haridas. With the gifted writing of MT Vasudevan Nar, ‘Amrutham Gamaya’ stands high as one of the underrated movies of Mohanlal.

The 1999 film ‘Olympian Anthony Adam’ had all the flavors of comedy, action, drama, and songs that were perfect for a commercial movie. Sadly this Bhadran directorial movie didn’t get the deserved attention from the audience and critics as well. As time passed, the audience started loving this action-packed entertainer which is definitely one of the underrated movies of Mohanlal.
