Kerala State Film Awards has been declared today. Due to the pandemic, there were rumours that the government may put on hold the announcement. Interestingly, the award declaration came in as a bliss amidst the corona scare as most of the movie buffs are happy with the ‘fair and unbiased’ selection by the jury.

Madhu Ambat, jury head of Kerala State Film awards 2020, tells us that the 99 percent of the decisions of the jury this years was 'unanimous'. "Jury was in one mind. We had differences of opinion in a very few areas and that too was sorted well," he says.

The cinematographer adds that Kani who bagged the best actress award has showcased a brilliant performance in the movie Biriyani. "She was weaving multiple expressions in her eyes," he says adding Suraj's performances were beyond words. "There were two to three films of Suraj in the list and amazingly the actor had showcase varied performances in each film. He had different body language in each movie," he says.

and Sajas Rahman that won the best movie award, according to Madhu Ambat, is a well-made movie blending the stage and life. "A beautiful script that has been depicted so well," he says.


Madhu Ambat had earlier told us that the screening of the films he wants to give the awards only to those who deserve, and he would strive for that. “I want to be fair and have an unbiased judgement,” said Madhu.

Three jury members writer TD Ramakrishnan, musician PJ Berny and actress Archana were replaced by singer Lathika, actress Jomol and writer Benyamin.
