Kerala State Film Awards 2022: CM Pinarayi Vijayan, Minister Saji Cherian distribute awards

The Kerala State Film Awards 2022 were presented on Thursday (Sep 14) at a function held at the Nishagandhi Auditorium, Thiruvananthapuram. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, accompanied by Culture Minister Saji Cherian, presented the 53rd Kerala State Film Awards 2022. A total of 47 film personalities, including Mammootty, Vincy Aloshious, Lijo Jose Pellissery, Kunchacko Boban, Mahesh Narayanan, Rafeeq Ahammed, and Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval, were presented with the top honours for the year.

The coveted J.C. Daniel Award, the highest film honor bestowed by the State government was presented by the Chief Minister to acclaimed filmmaker T.V. Chandran for his outstanding contributions to Malayalam cinema.

Actors Vincy Aloshious, Kunchacko Boban, Alencier Ley Lopez, and other winners including Lijo Jose Pellissery, Mahesh Narayanan, MJayachandran, Rafique Ahmed, and Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval, and others attended the award ceremony. Filmmaker Lijo Jose Pellissery, who helmed ‘Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam’ took the Best Actor award on behalf of Mammootty, as the superstar wasn’t able to attend.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan congratulated the winners, and also tweeted a few glimpses from the award ceremony and said, “Warmest congratulations to all the winners of the 53rd Kerala State Film Awards. Wishing them the best in their future endeavours.”


Culture Minister Saji Cherian presided over the Kerala State Film Awards 2022 award ceremony. Food and Civil Supplies Minister GR Anil delivered the valedictory address.

Jury Chairman Gautam Ghosh, Jury Chairman K.C. Narayanan, KSFDC Chairman Shaji N. Karun, Cultural Workers Welfare Board Chairman Madhupal, Culture Department Secretary Mini Antony IAS, Kerala State Chalachitra Academy Chairman Ranjith, Vice Chairman Premkumar, Secretary C. Ajoy, VK Prashanth MLA, Mayor Arya Rajendran, and, District Panchayat President D Suresh Kumar also graced the occasion.
