The past few days, rumours had been doing the rounds online that
Kavya Madhavan has been delaying the release of her upcoming film, Akashavani, on the grounds that she was not allowed to dub for her character in the film. The news also went on to say that Akashavani director Khais Millen wanted a feminine voice for Kavya’s character while Kavya insisted on using her own voice.
However, Khais, who had chosen not to respond to the news so far, says he wants to do so now since things are going out of hand. “I don’t know where this news originated, because neither I nor Kavya has had the slightest issues with each other regarding dubbing. Work on the movie is going as planned and there has never been any delay,” he says.
Khais adds that while it is true that someone else dubbed for Kavya, it was with her knowledge and permission. “Kavya, who was shooting for
She Taxi parallely, was suffering from throat infection for several days. She would come for dubbing every day but wasn’t able to do it. Since we had a limited time frame, we roped in dubbing artist Vimmy, who is also a State Award winner. Kavya was happy with the choice and met Vimmy during one of the dubbing sessions.”
Apparently, Kavya herself is taken aback by the news and asked the director how it originated. Meanwhile, Vijay Babu, who is also acting in the film, said he is suspicious that someone is spreading the news on purpose to create some rift in the team. “I suspect an insider’s hand in this,” he says.
