Antony Varghese's 'Kattalan' appears to be losing momentum at the box office after its initial days in theatres. The action thriller witnessed a major fall in collections on Day 4.
According to Sacnilk, 'Kattalan' earned Rs 61 lakhs net on its fourth day in cinemas. The latest figure marks a 52.3 percent decline compared to Day 3 collections of Rs 1.28 crore.
India collections continue to rise slowly
The Day 4 figures have taken the film's total India net collection to Rs 7.29 crore. Meanwhile, the domestic gross total has reached Rs 8.39 crore.
The movie was screened across 1,322 shows on the fourth day. However the reduced number of screenings and weaker footfalls affected the overall performance.
Day 3 (First Saturday): Rs 1.28 crore
Day 4 (First Sunday): Rs 61 lakhs
The Malayalam version continued to contribute the majority of the film's earnings. It generated Rs 52 lakhs and also registered 13 percent occupancy across 865 shows.
The Telugu version added Rs 9 lakhs while recording a 17 percent occupancy rate across 457 shows. The Malayalam version posted an overall occupancy of 9.65 percent on Day 4. Night shows performed slightly better with 12.50 percent occupancy. Morning shows remained lower at 3.75 percent. Afternoon and evening screenings recorded similar trends.
The Telugu version reported an overall occupancy of 12.20 percent for the day.
'Kattalan' continues its theatrical run despite a noticeable slowdown in box office numbers. The coming weekdays will likely play an important role in deciding the film's short-term performance.
Parth Tiwari opens up about Robbie
Actor Parth Tiwari recently discussed his character Robbie and the process behind creating the role.
During a conversation with ETimes, the actor explained that the team consciously avoided using familiar cinematic stereotypes while building the character.
Parth said, “With this character, our approach wasn’t the cliché idea that after taking drugs, a person suddenly behaves in an exaggerated way. We wanted to show a more nuanced side of it. Robbie is educated, and he has been doing it for a long time."
He further added, “When someone does something like that for years, they often become accustomed to it and learn how to handle it. So even in the scenes that come after, in my demeanor and performance, he doesn’t lose control. He’s angry, but he’s not out of control. That was always at the forefront of my mind while performing the character—that he wouldn’t be stumbling around or speaking incoherently.”
