Mammootty's latest venture, "Kannur Squad," has surged past expectations, amassing a staggering Rs 13.25 crore in Kerala within just four days of its release. This gripping police drama, which hit theaters on September 28, has not only garnered immense acclaim but has also proved its box office power. Reports indicate that the film's global earnings have crossed the impressive milestone of Rs 20 crore.

According to the Twitter forums that track the box office collections, ‘Kannur Squad’s day 1 saw a promising start with Rs 2.40 crores, followed by day 2's Rs 2.75 crores, and day 3's remarkable Rs 3.45 crores. However, it was day 4 that truly made waves, as the film pulled in an astonishing Rs 4.65 crore, even in the face of heavy rainfall. The four-day total of Rs 13.25 crore showcases the film's undeniable popularity among the audience.


Reportedly, international markets are also embracing "Kannur Squad" with open arms. According to the sources, in the UAE-GCC region, the movie recorded an impressive performance on Day 4, with 373 shows tracked, 21,068 admissions, and a gross collection of Rs 1.95 crore. The film's occupancy rate stood at a commendable 32%, highlighting its strong appeal among overseas audiences.

"Kannur Squad," directed by Roby Varghese Raj in his directorial debut and penned by Muhammed Shafi and Rony David Raj, is based on the real-life exploits of the Kannur Squad, a crime investigation unit led by former Kannur SP S. Sreejith IPS.

Even with fewer promotions for the movie, the positive WOM has actually benefited the movie, and the collection figures are the proof. With its gripping storyline and stellar performances, "Kannur Squad" has indeed marked the entry of the promising director Roby Varghese Raj to the Malayalam film industry.

Apart from Mammootty, the movie also features the actors Vijayaraghavan, Kishore, Rony David Raj, Shabareesh Varma, and Azees Nedumangad.
