‘Jeevamshamai’ fame music director
Kailas Menon, who won last year’s Filmfare Award South through his debut project itself, is all set to compose for director
Sibi Malayil’s next film.
Announcing the news, Kailas said on his online page, “Working on the next with the legendary filmmaker Sibi Malayil sir. The yet to be named movie is being produced by Dir. Ranjith sir & Sasidharan sir, scripted by Hemanth & starring Asif Ali (sic).”
The composer also shared a handful of his memories alongside the announcement.
Kailas said, “I remember that the first faculty, who took class for me in the year 2004 for my Visual Communication class in S R M College, Chennai, had praised Malayalam cinema a lot and had asked us to watch the movies by directors Bharathan, Sibi Malayil and Adoor Gopalakrishnan. That day, while I heard it with pride in the midst of my non-Malayali friends, I had wished for an the opportunity to do music for a Sibi Malayil movie, the least.
I am happy that now, I am getting to do music for a film of Sibi sir, who made movies like ‘Bharatham,’ ‘His Highness Abdulla,’ ‘Thaniyavarthanam,’ ‘Dasaratham,’ ‘Sadayam,’ ‘Kireedam’, ‘Kamaladalam,’ ‘Summer in Bethlehe,’ ‘Devadoothan’ and ‘Maya Mayooram.’ He has always given a lot of importance to music in his movies and so, getting an opportunity to work with him is extremely priceless for me. As of now, I am trying to make a handful of good songs. I will be revealing more about the songs, soon.”
