Jyotika on her ‘Kaathal - The Core’ co-star Mammootty: He had a lot to lose if the film didn't go right

Jyotika is all praise for her ‘Kaathal - The Core’ co-star Mammootty. In a recent interview with Film Companion, Jyotika lauded Mammootty’s decision to sign ‘Kaathal - The Core’, which spoke about a couple, stuck in a marriage, as one is homosexual.

While talking to the entertainment portal, Jyotika stated that though she has worked with almost all the superstars in the South, Mammootty stands as a ‘real hero’. Recounting her initial interaction with him, she recalled asking how Mammootty chose to portray this role, to which he responded, "What is a hero?" According to him, a hero isn't someone who only does action, or romance; rather, it's someone exploring diverse roles and immersing themselves in portraying different characters. In 'Kaathal - The Core', Mammootty essayed the role of Mathew Devassy, a gay man, who is yet to own his sexuality.


Jyotika also expressed her admiration for Mammootty's commitment, highlighting that he took a considerable risk with much at stake but fully committed to the role. “I really want to applaud him because where he is, there was a lot to lose if it didn't go right. He just went all out,” she said.

Actor Sidharth too expressed his adulation for Mammootty, and lauded the actor for his choice of films, especially in the past two years.
