Mollywood actors of late have been putting in extra efforts and working really hard to get into the skin of the characters they portray. After Unni Mukundan, who currently lost 17 kilos for the film Last Supper, we now hear that Jayasurya too is following a strict diet and workout regimen to lose 10 kilos for his upcoming film, Apothecary by Madhav Ramadasan. “I am now undergoing a rigorous training and a strict diet programme to sport a lean but fit body in my next film.
I will have to achieve the target in four weeks, which is indeed a challenge. So I haven’t committed any new projects as it would affect my weight-loss programme,” says Jayasurya. Interestingly, shedding a few kilos or gaining extra pounds is nothing new for the actor, who sports diverse looks in each of his films. “Though the weight-loss programme is challenging, I am quite confident about the end results. In fact, now my body is fine-tuned to sudden changes,” he says.
The actor is on a complete vegetarian diet, and is surviving on greens and leafy veggies. “I cannot eat anything I want, and the very thought makes me hungry. But I am focused and have self-control,” says Jayasurya, who is tight-lipped about his role in the film. “I am afraid I cannot reveal the details. All I can say is that it is a challenging role, and is worth all the efforts I’m putting in,” he adds. The out-and-out entertainer with a socially relevant theme will also see
Suresh Gopi and Asif Ali in lead roles alongside Jayasurya.
