Mollywood actress Meera Jasmine made her comeback to the Malayalam film industry after a long gap with the Sathyan Anthikad’s family drama movie ‘Makal’ and according to recent reports, the film is getting an OTT release via a popular OTT platform and the date is reportedly scheduled for August 18.

Helmed by the veteran director Sathyan Anthikad, ‘Makal’ had a very relatable story about the hurdles in connecting or reconnecting with a parent after the ties are severed for a reason. The script was written by Iqbal Kuttippuram who is best known for the films ‘Arabikkatha’, ‘Gramaphone’, ‘Niram’, ‘Megamalhar’, and ‘Diamond Necklace’.
‘Makal’ hit the big screens on April 29 and received mixed to average responses from the audience. Although the film was said to be lacking a good script, the performances of the lead actors in ‘Makal’ got much adulation from the audience.
Jayaram played the lead character in ‘Makal’ and Meera Jasmine played his wife's character named Juliet in the movie. Actors Naslen, Devika Sanjay, Innocent, Siddique, Sreenivasan, Dayyana Hameed, and Jayashankar also played significant roles in this family drama movie.
Meanwhile, Jayaram also played a pivotal role in the Telugu film ‘Radhe Shyam’ where he shared screen space with Prabhas and Pooja Hegde. The actor also has a host of highly ambitious projects in the pipeline including Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus ‘Ponniyin Selvan’, where he will be reportedly essaying a character named Azhwarkadiyan Nambi. Jayaram is also playing a pivotal role in the renowned director Shankar's 'SVC 50'.
