In debutant director Benny K Joseph’s next film titled Mylanchi Monchulla Veedu, Jayaram will play Mammootty! No, not the superstar, but a character named Mammootty. Jayaram has played a variety of characters but he hasn’t done a Muslim character in the recent times. Like the title suggests, Mylanchi Monchulla Veedu will revolve around a large Muslim family.
It is the season of experimentation in Malayalam cinema, but this film seems to have taken it to another level altogether; more than 50 Malayalam artists will be seen sharing screen space in it, with
Asif Ali playing another important part. “It is going to be a colourful film, with sets being prepared on a huge scale at locations like Ottappalam. Besides me, Asif, Madhu Sir, Saikumar, Baburaj, a host of heroines and many others will be part of it,” said Jayaram. “And yes, my character is called Mammootty.”
The scripting has been done by Uday Krishna and Siby K Thomas, who have earlier done films like
Sringaravelan and
Kammath & Kammath and so the film is most likely to be a full on entertainer with plenty of humour. Jayaram is currently wrapping up the shoot of
Njangalude Veettile Athidhikal, a family drama, opposite Priyamani. Asif, on the other hand, is shooting for
Driver on Duty directed by Manoj Palodan, where he plays a police jeep driver.
