Janani does her own stunts in her next in Mollywood
Malayalam film audiences might remember Janani Iyer as 'that cute heroine' in films like 3 Dots and Mosayile Kuthirameenukal. But all that might change after her next film in the industry, Ma Chu Ka, says the actress. Janani plays a young and bold journalist Nivedita in the movie, directed by Jayan Vannery. What's more, the actress has even pulled off some stunts in the film!
Janani says, 'I have never attempted anything like that before and the movie's crew was ready to give me a body double. But I said I wanted to try them for myself and went for it. In some of the scenes, I had to get suspended from a tree by ropes and they were quite challenging. After the shoot, the crew also agreed that it's good that I did it the stunts myself, as the sequences wouldn't have looked original otherwise.'
Tamil actor Pasupathy plays the male protagonist of the movie. 'Nivedita comes across him during an assignment,' says Janani, who found it 'fulfilling' to work with the actor. 'For instance, there was a scene where his character shouts at me and I end up crying. I was naturally sobbing as he completely got into the skin of the character, and the screaming appeared quite genuine. I couldn't help but shed some tears,' she says.
The actress adds that from now on in Malayalam, she will be focusing solely on performance-oriented roles. 'I have made the mistake of signing movies where I am the heroine but hardly have anything to contribute but a few scenes. I am done with that and want to do some substantial work,' she signs off.
