I've said no to a dozen films: Gauthami Nair
After her dream debut opposite star kid Dulquer Salmaan, which fared well at the box office, actress Gauthami Nair gave an impressive performance in Lal Jose's 'Diamond Necklace', as the smart Tamilian girl from Madurai, who comes to Dubai with a lot of hopes. If you thought two hit films may have led to innumerable number of signings, Gauthami's a bit different. The actress tells us that she does not intend to sign up for every film that comes her way.

Her latest project is Sunil Ibrahim's Chapters. 'After the success of Diamond Necklace, many roles came my way. But none seemed exciting enough, and I ended up rejected around half a dozen projects,' says Gauthami.
'I am looking for performance-oriented roles; projects that are unique and out-of-the-box. That is also why I signed up for Chapters. Though, it is not a full-fledged lead role. It is a new-age film with four segments and the script is impressive. There are no heroes or heroines; instead there are just character artistes. I play a role in the third chapter,' says Gauthami, who will be seen once again as a small-time girl in Chapters.
'My character is that of a village girl who joins an elite college in the city, and is naturally torn between both worlds. The movie traces the conflict that she faces as a student,' says Gauthami, who will start the shoot for the same on August 15 in Vagamon and Munnar. Actors Vineeth, Ria Saira and Richard also play prominent roles in the segment.
