Says the actress, who will essay the role of a feminist in director duo Shyam-Praveen’s Ottoruthiyum Sheriyalla It seems like anchor-turned-actress
Ranjini Haridas has struck gold by bagging a role that is true to her real self. After portraying the role of a cop in her debut movie,
Entry, Ranjini will now essay the role of Kayal, a feminist, in
Ottoruthiyum Sheriyalla, opposite Praveen of
Nee Ko Njaa Cha fame.
Interestingly, the movie will focus on the emotional turmoil of a man after a love failure. “It talks about women empowerment, and is narrated from a man’s point of view,” says Ranjini.
The actress says she is very happy to have landed this role, especially after going through a similar experience in her personal life. “Kayal makes a man realise what it is to be cheated in love. I am a feminist in real life too. This movie will definitely be a different treat for the audience,” she says.
Shyam, the director of the movie, says it will not portray women in a negative light. “Unlike other movies which trace a woman’s plight after a heart-break,
Ottoruthiyum Sheriyalla’s focus will be on men,” he says. Praveen, Gireesh Parameshwar and Maria Joseph also play prominent roles in the movie.
Ranjini, who is currently part of several shows on the small screen, says that though she enjoys acting, her priority will always be television. “Anchoring will always be my first love,” she states.
