Mia George is on a roll these days, what with her kitty packed with a number of projects in Mollywood. And now, the actress will be seen in never-before avatar, in the upcoming movie Nayana. Mia will be playing mom to a seven-year-old girl, who plays the lead. The movie spans through the life of the central character, a visually challenged girl named Nayana, and her relationship with a retired IAS officer, Kamal Swaroop.
“I play the character of her mother Shweta, who is worried about her daughter’s poor vision. Nayana is all about the girl’s emotional trauma and how her character transforms the persona of the old man,” says Mia. Child artiste Baby Anikha of
Anju Sundarikal fame plays the title character of Nayana while Bollywood actor
Anupam Kher does the role of the retired officer from Jammu and Kashmir.
But isn’t she too young to play a mother? Mia reasons, “Honestly, I didn’t have any problems playing a mature character, as the script of the movie demanded it. While donning a character on screen, we drift away from our real life persona. That’s the perk of this profession.”
The movie is said to be a family entertainer with a socially relevant theme. “Nayana explores a series of societal issues including female foeticide and the government’s double stance regarding the liquor policy,” says its scribe and director K N Sasidharan. The director’s last two outings Akkare and Kaanathaya Penkutti had won critical acclamation from movie buffs.
