‘I think people can connect to a character like Jiji mol’, says ‘Chathuram’ actress Santhy Balachandran - Exclusive

As an actor, you are always at the mercy of someone who sees a specific character in you.” From these words said by the new-found talent in the Mollywood film industry, Santhy Balachandran, we can already deduce that the actress is here to stay and has a clear view of the characters she plays on-screen.

Recently the actress made several heads turn with her role named Jiji mol for the erotic thriller movie ‘Chathuram’ and the actress spilled beans about her character in the movie during an exclusive conversation with ETimes.

“I think people can connect to a character like Jijimol as she appears to be naive but has her ways to get through any situation. She believes in the best of her partner and wants to be happy with the person she loves.”, Santhy’s words prove how much research she did to play the character Jijimol in Sidharth Bharathan’s directorial.

Further Santhy Balachandran said, “People will also feel empathy towards the character Jijimol and while choosing each character I ask myself whether I wish to be part of telling the story and what I can bring to the table. Regarding the character Jiji mol, I felt that there are several layers to it and it was exciting to work with Sidharth Bharathan.”

Talking about the director Sidharth Bharathan, Santhy said, “ His films actually don’t stick to a specific genre or a storyline. That is indeed interesting for an actor as the director doesn’t wish to play it on the safe side and will help us push to our limits. This gives a space for actors to learn.”

Meanwhile, Santhy Balachandran recently stepped into the Bollywood film industry with the film ‘Gulmohar’ which was directed by Rahul V Chittella. The actress also has the upcoming TV series named ‘Sweet Kaaram Coffee’ in the pipeline.
