Higuita
’, playing a fierce politician. In an exclusive chat with ETimes,
Hemanth G Nair, the director of ‘Higuita’ shares his experience of working with Suraj Venjaramoodu.
“Suraj Venjaramoodu was the first choice I had when I scripted ‘Higuita’. I needed a solid actor who could play the role of Panniyannur Mukundan, the role of a powerful leader. It was important that the character stands out and hence it took a while for me to reach Surajettan,” the debutant director said, elaborating about how Suraj Venjaramoodu collaborated for the project. “It has been three years since I narrated the script to Suraj Venjaramoodu. The first thing he asked was if I was sure about him playing the politician. He wasn’t as popular as he is now and was a bit skeptical about playing the part. And I said ‘yes’,” Hemanth added.
“But I am happy that from the moment he signed the character to this point where I am sitting at the editing table, he has been a huge support. From asking doubts to understanding his character, Suraj has given me and the team immense support. He has also given some valuable suggestions for ‘Higuita’. He lived as Panniyannur Mukundan for the film,” Hemanth further added.
The team has completed major portions of filming and is planning to shoot the last schedule at Alleppey. ‘Higuita’ is backed by Sajith Amma and Bobby Tharian under their new banner 2nd Half Productions. Suraj Venjaramoodu is expected to deliver yet another impressive performance with this venture.
