I have not got such fulfilment during any other Onam: Balu Varghese

Kerala is going through a bad time, but I would say we could witness the true meaning of Onam. Onam is not just about prosperity, it is about compassion and being together, in happiness and adversity. I have never understood the true relevance of the festival as now, in my entire life. My house was inundated in water too, but at that time I felt there were people who needed my help more.To come together and work for the good of all and to be able to provide food to people in camps and quell their hunger was something out of the world. I have not got such fulfilment during any other Onam. I view it as a silver lining. During these days, Asif and I had actually lost track of time and date, and forgot to have our meals. But the simple rice and curry we had amid those in the camp tasted better than any Onasadya. The floods have been a life-changing experience for me and has completely changed the way I look at things.
