Talking about working in the movie not only as the female protagonist but also as an assistant director,Anupama says, "Dulquer and I have been good friends and I had just eight days of shoot for the movie. We all bonded really well. So, when I completed the shoot and returned home, I started missing them all. While talking to Dulquer, he reminded me about my desire to direct films and asked why not join the sets as assistant director. I quickly took it as an invitation and grabbed the opportunity. I was part of filmmaking and post production work. Gregory is a sweetheart and Shyama, my character is really interesting."

She also revealed that she was always excited to know how a film is being made. "To be really frank, I have been always fascinated about what's happening behind the screen. I believe the magic happens there and while working as AD in Maniyarayile Ashokan, I never felt tired or never bothered about tan or injury. That was the most exciting days of my life.
