Aishwarya Lekshmi and
Sharafudheen have come together for a horror comedy, titled Hello Mummy, directed by Vaishakh Elans and written by Sanjo Joseph.
Speaking about the film, Sanjo says, “We were excited about this combination. Sharaf has proven his skill in subtle comedy and we needed the humour to work well in the film. Aishwarya had shared a concern about doing humour, but it is the characters around her that convey the comedy, so she was comfortable about the idea. ”

Aishwarya plays Steffi, whose deceased mother continues to be present in her life as a ghost. The film unfolds with her husband, Bonny, played by Sharaf, facing the wrath of the possessive mother. “When I looked at how to place the story, I felt that it worked best in a romantic comedy genre.

Just as the audience begins to feel fearful about the horror element, it turns into a comedic situation. And as the story moves forward, it goes from humour and slapstick to an emotional climax. It is a pucca commercial entertainer,” says the scriptwriter.

The film also features Jagadish, Johny Antony and Adhri Joe, and Hindi actor Sunny Hinduja, among others. “I had previously worked on family dramas Falimy and webseries Jabla, so I wanted to try take more creative liberty with a genre such as this. The amazing thing was that the actors showed a skill for improvisation on the shoot that we used to see in our classic comedies of the ’80s and ’90s,” says Sanjo.
Jakes Bejoy has composed the music. Cinematography is by Praveen Kumar, while editing is by Chaman Chakko. Hello Mummy is currently showing in theatres.
