Honey Rose hits out at businessman: If his abuse continues, I will take legal action
Honey Rose has opened up on social media about the harassment that she's facing from a businessman. “Can a person’s wealth make him arrogant enough to insult any woman? Doesn’t Indian law offer security to a woman against this?,” the actress wrote in a heartfelt post on her Instagram handle on Sunday morning.
Speaking exclusively to Kochi Times, the Rachel actress, who did not wish to name the businessman at this point, said that her post is to let the public know about the discomfort caused to her and her family by his repeated “verbal attacks”. “He has just decided that using my name will work as a good tactic to get publicity. I have been in the industry for two decades now; I don’t need this sort of drama. Like myself, many other celebs have been part of the inauguration and other events of his businesses, but he has repeatedly targeted me and used my name in his interviews. It is offensive to speak in this manner about anybody; it is as if he is getting back at me for something,” says Honey.
‘I refused to associate with his brand due to his abusive remarks’
She says that she had refused to take part in his business functions after he had made rude and misogynistic remarks against her. “Initially, I had interacted with his managers and when I did meet him, he was very polite. Then, at one public programme, he called me ‘Kunti Devi’. I didn’t even realise the double entendre when he said this on stage. After this, when we went into his shop, in front of the media, he said a couple of things that made me very uncomfortable. When I got home, I conveyed it very clearly to the programme organisers that it is not acceptable to make such comments about me, and I refused to take part in his programmes from then on.”
The actress says that she was informed very late that he was a guest at another programme that she was participating in. “While he didn’t say anything to me, he made several awkward comments publicly and then posted about the programme on social media, alluding to my body and sent me a collab request for the post! He then invited me to another of his business programmes, but I turned it down. Even though his manager called me up to assure that he wouldn't repeat this behaviour, I stood my ground and told him I did not want to associate with him or his brand. Apparently, he later said that he could get other celebs for his programmes, so it wouldn’t matter if I didn’t turn up.”
