On roping in Parham for the Malayalam film, Omar tells us, “The movie has a lot of importance to the stunt sequences. It’s an action thriller, a genre that’s not much explored in Malayalam. The story had scope for a foreign actor and Babu chettan said he knew Louis Mandylor and that’s how he came onboard. And then we wanted somebody to play this villain character who has a few interesting sequences. We again asked Babu chettan if he knew someone who would fit the role and he had suggested Robert Parham. In 2018, they had worked together in Bullets Blade and Blood, in which Robert played the lead, and they had been friends since then. So, Babu chettan talked to him and he agreed to be part of our film.”

The film also marks the comeback of New Delhi and Rajavinte Makan scriptwriter Dennis Joseph, who had last worked in Mohanlal’s Geethanjali in 2013. “Dennis sir wanted to do something different with this film,” says Omar. “Both Louis Mandylor and Robert Parham’s presence in the movie lends an international appeal to Power Star and that’s one of the reasons why we wanted foreign actors as part of the project. Babu chettan’s access to these stars made our job easier.”

Talking about when the project will go on floors, the Oru Adaar Love filmmaker says, “We are planning to start work by February or March next year. This will be a theatrical release because it needs a big budget; an OTT release is not viable. We want to start shoot only three months prior to knowing that people will come back to theatres. That will happen after the vaccine is made available and people get back to their earlier routine.”
