The latest is that the film might be made into Hindi. It remains to be seen who will play Appu and Maathen, the endearing couple played by Aishwarya Lekshmi and Tovino Thomas, in the Hindi version. The Bollywood film will be directed by Joe Rajan, a Bollywood director but a Malayali, who has directed films like Luv U Soniyo. Mayaaandhi told a different kind of love story, without the usual tropes. The couple in love had their own lives and met up on and off, without ever deciding whether to get married or not.
