‘Higuita’ director Hemanth G Nair says that a lot of people advised him not to change the movie’s title

Popular actor Suraj Venjaramoodu and Dhyan Sreenivasan teamed up for the thriller film ‘Higuita’ and the movie hit the big screens on March 31. Recently, in an interview with an online media, the director Hemanth G Nair said that the film explores more than just contemporary Kerala politics.

Talking to the media, Hemanth said that he felt that his dreams were shattered when the Corona outbreak in 2020 affected the shoot for ‘Higuita’. Even after overcoming all the obstacles, there came another issue regarding the title of the movie which led to the release delay of the Suraj Venjaramoodu starrer.

Hemanth said to the media that ‘Higuita’ is a political thriller film that is set in the backdrop of the northern district in Kerala. Speaking about the controversy regarding the title, Hemanth reportedly said that it was inspired by a Colombian footballer and has no connections with the popular writer NS Madhavan’s short story. The director added that ‘Higuita’ is much more than contemporary Kerala politics.

Regarding the title controversy, Hemanth reportedly said that most people advised him not to change the movie’s title. He also said that a lot of people expressed solidarity and due to its suspense element, the director never wished to rename the title of the movie. He further added by saying that he decided to fight for the title and uphold his artistic choice.

‘Higuita’ is finally out in the theatres and is receiving many positive responses from the audiences.
