Known as the handsome villain of Mollywood, Devan, has reportedly said that it is the heroes who decide the actors in a movie.

Devan in an interview given to a Malayalam magazine, said, it is the hero's decision that determines whether Vijaraghavan or Devan be part of a movie, and without their 'yes' nothing can happen in cinema.
The actor said that he was avoided by many Malayalam movies and that he had to migrate to Tamil and Telugu industry to sustain in the field.

There are actors in this industry with capabilities matching Mammootty and Mohanlal, said Devan, who also added that he felt such actors never could emerge because of some 'breaks'.

Mentioning the reasons that intimidate heroes, Devan said that someone with a defining personality is bound to face issues. Devan said if actors like Vijayaraghavan, Manoj K Jayan and Sai Kumar come in antagonistic roles, the hero in the movie gets intimidated.

Like Devan, a few voices of dissent and concerns, though faintly, are coming out, about the superstar domination in M town, after strong female voices like that of Rima, Padmapriya and WCC showed courage to publicly denounce superstar supremacy and patriarchy in the industry.
