From the looks of it, ‘Vellam’ hints that it is the story of an alcoholic, played by Jayasurya. The actor is seen sporting a wrinkled shirt and dhoti, holding a bottle of alcohol, in the poster. Samyukta Menon, who debuted in Malayalam through the Tovino Thomas movie ‘Theevandi,’ is the female lead of ‘Vellam.’ It is the first time that Jayasurya and Samyukta work together.

A few weeks ago, team Vellam had offered help to the kids who weren't able to join the online classes organised by the Kerala Government during lockdown. The producers of the movie Jose Kutty Madathil, Yadhu Krishna and Ranjith Manabrakattil had contributed to the tablet challenge by Hibi Eden.

The film also has Siddique, Baiju, Santhosh Keezhattoor, Edavela Babu, Babu Annoor, Nirmal Palazhi, Sreelakshmi, Sneha Paleri, Priyanka, Johny Antony, Jins Bhaskar, Sunil Sainuddin and more as part of its cast. It is produced by Josutty Madhathil, Yadu Krishna and Ranjith Manambrakkadu in the banner of Friendly Productions. Earlier, the team had planned to release the film in the month of September but as of now, there is no clarity on when movies would hit screens again, considering the rising number of Covid – 19 cases in the State and the country. When the lockdown was declared the first time, the film was in the post production stage.
