'Helen' director Mathukutty Xavier: Shooting at minus four degrees was quite a challenge

Helen is a free thinker, who is also bold and open-minded. She is the only daughter of Paul, an LIC agent. A BSC nursing graduate, Helen wants to work in Canada. While preparing for her IELTS exam, she is also working part time at a food joint named Chicken Hub. She also has a boyfriend named Azhar. One day, Helen goes missing and the film’s story revolves around this incident.

The film is directed by debutant Mathukutty Xavier. Noble Babu Thomas, who plays Helen’s boyfriend Azhar, has co-scripted the film with Alfred Kurien Joseph. Anand Chandran, who cranked camera for movies like Premam, Anandam and Neram, is the cinematographer for this film. Shameer Muhammad, who was the editor of Angamaly Diaries and Charlie; is part of this project too. Music is by Shaan Rahman.

Mathukutty says, “I had gone to meet Vineeth Sreenivasan, to request his feedback on Helen’s story. As soon as he heard it, he said he will produce the film. Shooting the crucial scenes of the movie, in a temperature of minus four degrees, was a challenge. Anna Ben gives a compelling performance in the film as the main character Helen.”
