Gopi Sundar files a complaint against a netizen for defamatory comments; says ‘intrusion into privacy is not welcome’

Musician Gopi Sundar has filed a complaint at the Cyber police, in Kochi, against a netizen for defamatory comments aimed at him. On August 17, the music director posted a photo of him dressed in traditional attire, and three comments on his Facebook profile, by a netizen, were extremely upsetting.

Gopi Sundar filed a complaint, in which he stated that "The meaning of these comments is self-explanatory, offensive, and condemnable to the highest levels." In his complaint, he also said, "This person has made such derogatory comments against my old mother. The content is highly obscene, intimidating, outrageous, and defamatory."

Following the complaint, today (Aug 20), Gopi Sundar posted a note on his social media handles that “Any intrusion into privacy is not welcome.”

He added, “Dear friends, social media has brought us closer over the time becoming an effective tool for communication. However, certain anti-social elements have turned it toxic. You may be aware of the obscene remarks recently made by a person not just against me but my innocent mother, who is not even a user of this platform. I was forced to move away from self-restraint towards action resulting in registration of an FIR among other appropriate legal remedies.”


Meanwhile, on the work front, Gopi Sundar’s recent work in Malayalam is ‘Adios Amigo’ starring Asif Ali and Suraj Venjaramoodu. The film helmed by Nahas Nazar is currently running in the theatres.
