From the crew to the story, 'Praana' is a must watch: Reasons to watch the film

'Praana' is one of the most experimental movies ever made in the history of Indian cinema. Everything about the movie is new to the conventional audience. Even for the non-conventional group, the film is an exception. From the crew to the story, everything about the movie is unique. Praana also comes from the rarest category of movies, where one should experience the movie within a theatre. As its sound and certain other perspectives are unique, the movie should be experienced on the big screens. Here are some of the facts which ensure that 'Praana' is a must watch and a theatrical experience movie.

2/5

One actor

When observed in the history of World Cinema, one can notice that there are only a handful of movies which have a single character in it. Seldom are movies in such a way. One because the script for such movies would be precise and also because such plots are rare. The most important part of it is that, when there is only a protagonist in the movie, there should be situations that take the part of antagonist and lead the plot further. Cinema always has that progression in the screenplay, so even if it's a one actor movie, a movie must have an exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution. The movies like 'The Human Voice', 'All is lost', 'Buried', 'Silent running' are one-person centered movies.

But when we look into Malayalam or Indian cinemas, there are almost none. The M-Town is going to have one with the movie 'Praana.' The movie has only one character in it, Tara Anuradha. The person is a writer, who is in search of freedom. The battle starts while her visit to a haunted house. In other words, the character played by Nithya Menen is the film as a whole. Everything else that happens is related and only based upon the response and reaction of Tara.

Nithya Menen is definitely a proven actress. But in 'Praana' one could watch the most iconic performance of the actress, as she has to do the whole process to engage the audience and take them into the movie.

3/5

Surround Sync sound

'Praana' is one of the must-watch movies because the movie comes with a unique sound feature. The movie has used surround sync sound throughout the movie. The audience is going to experience this for the first time in the history of Indian cinema. Each and every sound happening in the moment of the filming is taken at the same moment of the sound. Surround-sync sound is different from sync sound. Because in the case of surround sync sound, there is no second recording for the things happening there. Only a person with high accuracy and knowledge about the physics of sound can indulge in such a project. And thankfully, Resul Pookutty has been roped into the role! The sound for the movie was captured at the time of the production, which is a rare phenomenon in Indian cinemas as the Surround-sync sound procedure demands high accuracy and a great plan to execute it.

Sound design is carried out by Resul Pookutty and Louis Banks will handle the music department. When Oscar winner Resul Pookutty is a part of the film, what else does it need in the sound part?

4/5

P.C. Sreeram

P. C. Sreeram is one of the finest cinematographers of our country. P. C. Sreeram is very different from other cinematographers of his time because he is a cinematographer who moves his camera lens for the film. Now one might wonder why that is astonishing because every cinematographer works for their respective film. P. C is an exception because he focuses his camera lens for the director. He always brings the visual experience that the director asks for. He never loses himself into beautifying the visuals for the sake of visual impact. He just gives what the director asks for. And so far, as V. K. Prakash has proved his directorial skills, the end result is already predictable.

5/5

The interesting trailer

''The battle for freedom will continue until the moment human race exists.'' This is how the trailer starts. Nithya Menen's voice over with the mystical frames of P. C. Sreeram will change all the notions of the movies made till date. The sound experience one could encounter through the headphones will be the first unique experience. The surround sync sound, with the mystery revolving around the single character and the anticipation the cinema invokes, will make you forget the movies you have experienced earlier. The trailer gives a hint about the plot of the movie. The writer, who believes in the symphony of freedom, is in the solicit for it. The single voice that she hears within her. Tara Anuradha, her script, the haunted house, the attacks, the death. The trailer simply makes you anticipate for the movie.
