From 'Keerthichakra' to 'Douthyam'; Malayalam films that portrayed the valour of the Indian Army

India is one of the most peaceful countries across the globe. But it certainly has problems with some of its neighbouring nations and has faced long decades of militant and terrorist threats. India has its line of defense always up and prepared to face the toughest challenges. As films are reflections of our society, Malayalam films have also have tried portraying the valour of Indian soldiers, who sacrifice their today for our tomorrow. The films have tried to make the audience get an idea about how much every soldier is sacrificing, for the peace and betterment of our lives and also about their happiness, hopes, and sufferings, they go through. Here is a list of some best movies in Malayalam, which has portrayed the lives of Indian soldiers.

Douthyam

This 1989 film had actor Mohanlal in the lead role. The actor played Captain Roy Jacob in the film. Even though the P. Anil movie had a high amount of thriller element in it. An aircraft crashes, which has some important documents in it. The movie said about the mission that Captain Roy overtook and how adventurously he tried to protect it. The movie had some excellently choreographed stunt scenes. Actors Suresh Gopi and Babu Antony made some of their iconic roles in the movies. The movie had some challenging shots in it. The movie discussed the effort took by the Captain to fight against the terrorists and save the confidential details connected to the nation.

Keerthichakra

The Mohanlal film is one of the popular army movies from Major Ravi. The film discussed the mission of eradicating terrorists from the country. The movie was set in the backdrops of Kashmir, where Major Mahadevan, played by Mohanlal was assigned to wipe of the terrorists. The movie discussed the lives of soldiers, their routines, their personal lives and how their families were affected. The movie also discussed the love of a Havildar. Everything happens in the context of the attacks taking place.

Mission 90 days

The movie spoke about the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi. The Mammootty starrer movie talked about how the anti-nationals were caught by an Investigation officer. The movie was less distractive, as it focused on the storyline and tried sticking to the facts in the plot. The movie took some of the known facts from the murder and sketched the rest story based on that. The movie said both the protagonist part and the antagonist's deeds. The film also gave people an outline about the difficulties that the investigating officers had to overcome, and also gave an outlook on the determination of the suicide bombers. Actor Mammootty was well praised for his portrayal of Major Sivaram. The director also gained fame for casting the right person, as Mammootty was both skilled in acting as well as physically suitable for the role.

Kurukshetra

'Kurukshetra' is one of the major hits from film-maker Major Ravi. The movie was a sequel to the 2006 film, 'Keerthichakra.' The narrated the story of the Kargil war that took place in 1999. The movie also portrayed the huge loss, that India had to suffer in the context of the war. The film also portrayed the love between a couple within the troop. The movie has one of the most heart-touching song, 'Oru Yathra,' which portrays the pathetic situation of an army nurse confronting with the procedure of her spouse's death. The film is one of the most watched army movies ever made.

Picket 43

The Prithviraj starrer film is one of its kind, when compared to the army movies made in Mollywood, to date. The movie had a unique storyline to portray. The whole story was based on the lives of people who are assigned to guard pickets in the border. The film spoke about the beautiful relationship an Indian soldier shared with the Pakistani one. The movie discussed the mental fluctuations a guard at the picket goes through and how the loneliness overcomes the so-called borders, each guard has built in their own minds. The beautiful friendship that blooms between the Indian picket guard and the Pakistani is a must watch one. The movie also describes how one can stay patriotic to his nation and not hating the counterpart, who is patriotic and human at the same time. The movie also shows the relationship that Havildar Hari develops with a trained dog, 'Baccardi.'
