Finals movie review highlights: A well paced sports drama

Finals

is about a cycling prodigy named Alice Varghese who is training for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The movie starts off by showing her passion for the sport while also explaining how her relationship between her dad and coach Varghese (Suraj Venjaramoodu) and childhood friend Manuel (Niranj) have contributed to her success.

With delightfully fresh frames by cinematographer Sudeep Elamon and a well paced first half, director PR Arun keeps the audience engaged while unfolding how Alice's days before she heads to the training camp in Russia.

Kailas Menon's music adds momentum to the proceedings - be it the romance between Alice and Manuel or the race sequences. Rajisha once again puts in a strong performance in the film, which also talks about the facilities provided to those trying their best to bring laurels to the country and also their ensuing struggles after achieving such feats. However, not once does it take away the focus on the main story.

The race before the intermission shows Arun has what it takes to keep the audience engaged about what will happen next.
