The Akkara Kazchakkal creator explains the difference he found between making his first film and directing the sitcom

Abi Varghese’s Akkara Kazhchakal was a trendsetter of sorts. The sitcom brought a new brand of humour that was absent from Malayalam TV screens and attracted viewers of all ages.
The director is now all set for the release of his first full-length feature film titled Monsoon Mangoes, which has Fahadh Faasil in the lead.
“The only difference is that there wasn’t a big arc in Akkara Kazhchakal but you needed one to make a movie,” says the director.

“Also we shot the sitcom during the weekends but we had to spent three months in pre-production and close to 27 days shooting the movie.”
