Shaji Kailas’ mother Janikiyamma passed away. She was 89. FEFKA (Film Employees Federation of Kerala) Directors’ Union took to their social media handle to pay tributes.
“Director Shaji Kailas’ mother Janakiyamma (89) passed away… FEFKA Directors’ Union offers condolences on the demise of the mother... 🌹,” the organization said in their social media note.
Shaji Kailas shared an endearing bond with his mother.
On Mother’s Day this year, Shaji Kailas dropped a lovely picture with his mother Janakiyamma, and penned, “"Wonderful Mother" God made a wonderful mother, A mother who never grows old; He made her smile of the sunshine, And He molded her heart of pure gold; In her eyes He placed bright shining stars, In her cheeks fair roses you see; God made a wonderful mother, And He gave that dear mother to me.❤❤❤.”
Earlier he had posted a lovely note for his mother, that read, “There is no one in this world or beyond who can replace 'mother'. Her love is unconditional and she never leaves you in your whole life. Happy Mother’s Day ❤️.”
A popular filmmaker, Shaji Kailas ventured into cinemas as an assistant director. He made his debut as an independent filmmaker with the 1989 film ‘The News’ featuring
Suresh Gopi in the lead. Shaji Kailas grabbed eyeballs in 1992 when he teamed up with Suresh Gopi once again for ‘Thalastaanam’, which was scripted by Renji Panicker. Shaji Kailas gave Suresh Gopi some of the best films in his career including ‘Commissioner’. The filmmaker collaborated with Mammootty for ‘The King’ and later with Mohanlal for films ‘Aaram Thamburan’ and ‘Narasimham’.
