Renowned film producer Johnny Sagarika has been arrested amidst allegations of fraudulent activity totaling a staggering Rs 2.75 crore. The arrest follows a complaint filed by Dwarak Udayakumar, a Canadian businessman residing in Coimbatore, accusing Sagarika of deceit in the pretext of producing a film.
According to Asianet News, Sagarika, whose notable productions include 'Orkut Oru Ormmakkoottu,' 'Thaandavam,' 'Chakram,' and 'Bodyguard,' was apprehended by Coimbatore police at Nedumbassery Airport while attempting to flee to Dubai via an Air India flight.
The complaint lodged by Udayakumar asserts that Sagarika made him invest the substantial sum for a film production venture, with only a fraction of it, Rs 50 lakhs, reportedly returned.

However, a significant amount, Rs 2.25 crores, remains unpaid, intensifying the gravity of the allegations against Johnny Sagarika. Complicating matters further, Johnny Sagarika's son, Ryan John Thomas, has been implicated as the second accused in the case, adding another layer of complexity to the unfolding saga.
The Coimbatore crime branch authorities have taken charge of the investigation, with an inspector confirming a search operation for Ryan John Thomas.
Some of the movies produced by Johnny Sagarika include 'Hariharan Pillai Happy Aanu', 'Moz & Cat', 'Body Guard', among other superhit Malayalam movies.
