The soap opera Akkarakazhchakal not only garnered attention for its comic content but also provided the film industry a handful of talented actors. In addition to that, the director of the serial, Abi Varghese, has kicked off his feature film innings with Monsoon Mangoes. For his debut movie itself, he could rope in Fahadh Faasil and he is also introducing a new heroine in Malayalam, with the film,
Iswarya Menon.
The Malayali girl settled in Chennai, is thrilled to have wrapped up her first project in her mother tongue alongside some of the best actors in the industry and international technicians.
Iswarya speaks about her debut project, “I play Rekha, a strong, independent and practical girl who loves painting, but takes up a job in the IT industry keeping her creative interest on the backburner. Working with the team was a memorable experience — while the actors were Malayalis, the rest of the team consisted of technicians from the US. The film had sync sound dubbing and has an international aura to it.”
About sharing screen space with the State Award winner Fahadh Faasil, Iswarya says, “He is a vibrant actor, but a quiet person, so we hardly interacted. I was amazed to see him giving perfect shots in single takes!” The model-turned actress might not have lived much in her home state but mouths her mother tongue with impressive ease. Ask her how she speaks the language impeccably, Iswarya says, “It’s all thanks to my parents who have been quiet strict with me since childhood. They wanted me to learn the language well and insisted that we speke Malayalam at home.”
Iswarya, who debuted in movies soon after her engineering, has two Kannada movies to her credit already. “I have signed another Malayalam movie and a Tamil project as well, but it’s too early to divulge the details,” she signs off.
